A complaint alleging a violation of the Mississippi Dental Practice Act shall be made in writing and signed by the complainant. Complaints may also be mailed to the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners, 715 S. Pear Orchard Road, Suite 200, Ridgeland, MS 39157 or emailed to dental@dentalboard.ms.gov.
When filing a complaint, the complainant should provide as much information and documentation as possible, including, but not limited to, the complainant's address, work telephone number, and home telephone number; nature of the dental treatment; dates of treatment; insurance claim forms, correspondence, and billings; the names of all dentists and dental auxiliaries rendering treatment; dental photographs; etc.
Please note that complaints involving fee disputes with the practitioner should not be addressed to the Board.
The Board will provide email correspondence acknowledging receipt of the complaint. If an investigation is initiated, the Board's investigator may contact the complainant for additional information. Following completion of an investigation, the Board will determine whether probable cause exists that a violation has occurred. As a result, the Board may Remand the case without action; issue a non-disciplinary Letter of Concern; pursue disciplinary action via a Consent Order; or schedule a Formal Disciplinary Hearing. All disciplinary actions are considered reportable offenses. Please be advised that the ultimate resolution of a complaint may take several months.
